Unified lightheavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (28-0, 24 KOs) is one of two featured fighters in Throwdown Fantasy‘s current set of games aptly called #Garcia #Kovalev Throwdown. The other half is former 140 pound king Danny Garcia, who is moving up to fight Paulie Malignaggi but let’s leave Swift to a future discussion. 17 weeks after breaking into the Ring’s Top 10 Pound for Pound rankings, Sergey Kovalev currently sits at #7 as of its July 06, 2015 rankings. Kovalev had been “krushing” one opponent after the other since his pro debut in 2009 but it wasn’t only after his March 14, 2015 knockout win over former light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal that he broke into the Ring’s elusive list of the best Pound for Pound fighters. It might have come a little too late.
