Money Makers: Chagaev Obliterates Pianeta

Week one of the #ThurmanCollazo games are over and here are the top fantasy points scorers of the week:
1. Ruslan Chagaev, 1st Round KO: 121.1 points
2. Michael Perez, 6th Round KO: 88.6 points
The second highest scoring fighter of the week is newly crowned NABO lightweight champion Michael Perez of New Jersey. Another bargain at just $4,900, Perez used his jab to soften up opponent Luis Sanchez before knocking him out in Round 6 to score 88.6 fantasy points. Aside from the knockout bonus (30 points) , decision points (30 points) and punches landed points (13.6 points), he also got 5 points for his 38.9 connect percentage and another 10 points for +/- bonus. The KO was Perez’s first in his last six bouts.
3.  Mauricio Herrera, Majority Decision: 56.5 points
When the fight between Mauricio Herrera and Hunk Lundy was stopped due to cuts in Round 5, Herrera fantasy owners were worried that their team member might not have scored enough fantasy points. But Herrera proved that one can score big fantasy points even in an abbreviated fight that went to the scorecards. Here’s why: Known as El Maestro for his technical boxing, Herrera scored a +18 in the plus/minus department and connected on 43.8% of his punches (116/265) giving him an additional 10 points for each department. Herrera was also a cheap favorite at $4,800, which is the same prize owners had to pay for underdogs Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. and Darley Perez
4. Keith Thurman 8th Round TKO 51.9 points
5. Willie Nelson 9th Round TKO 50.5 points
Tony Harrison’s mouth is as fast as his hands and he showed it against Willie Nelson. Remember when these two almost rumbled in the ESPN news conference? Well Willie Nelson silenced Harrison’s mouth on Saturday night to become the lowest priced fighter on our weekly list ( $4,600) and to become the only upset winner in the first set of games. The late KO gave Nelson just a modest 5 points KO bonus and 5 knockdown points but hey, if this guy was the underdog pick on someone’s team, he could make somebody out there a winner when the games conclude next Saturday.
